Last year we did four potato boxes ("towers") and about 20 feet in the ground using the "hilling up" method. This year, we're too lazy to assemble the boxes, so we're planting about 30 feet of potatoes in rows. We found that we like to dig up our early/mid varieties to eat first. We leave the late varieties in the ground to harvest as we eat them over the winter. We actually just finished digging up our russets about 3 weeks ago when we were prepping to plant this years crop. I like the bucket method too for easy harvesting, but Terry finds hilling up easier when they are in the ground.

K,
Thanks for the tip. The first day I did use Sav-a-chick. Since then we've mixed up a 5 gallon bucket with 500mg of niacin added and water the ducklings from that. Gwen has mad a full recovery, Gracie is looking fantastic and Gert is bigger than ever. I can report that all of the girls are very healthy and will get moved out to their big girl pen this evening.

Sav-a-Chick (or any vitamin and electrolyte mix) would probably help too. I'd keep giving the extra niacin as well though.
