I spent a wonderful weekend in various hockey rinks and in my garden*. I did pay dearly for taking 4 days off. I returned to my desk with a pile of real work to do. Of course I plowed through that work in two days so I could take another day off.
Today Mom and I are attending the Northwest Flower and Garden Show. This will be Mom’s first (and last) time. Sadly, the event planners for the show have been unsuccessful in selling their business, Salmon Bay Events, and are ready move on. After 21 years this will be the last for the Flower and Garden Show.
This will be an interesting experience for my mother. She continues to call it the Home & Garden show. Little does she know how little home and how much garden. With any luck I can really blow her mind and find a way to get into the Farwest Show later this year.
Tomorrow we will give you the rundown on the show, our favorite gardens and how to navigate through thousands of people with a 4 year old in tow.

*Gardening tasks of the weekend included planting a few vegetable seeds in pots and placed them in our new coldframe greenhouse and tidying the vegetetable beds and constructing our square foot grids and pea supports. We also did the annual President’s Day/Valentine’s Day duties and planted the peas and pruned the roses.
